I have known Annie and Andy since middle school (Sutton Middle School to be exact!) Yes we were all kids back then, now we are having our own. Annie is due in two weeks! They are two incredibly laid back and talented parents to be! Annie is an amazing pastry chef and acting scout and Andy is a fireman (every little boy’s dream job!) I can’t wait to find out what they are having! I love surprises!

Nicole and Josh are two amazing parents whom I have had the pleasure of getting to know over the past two years. Nicole was one of 5 of my friends who became pregnant around the same time as me. We had so much fun celebrating our pregnancies and chatting over the months about what we were experiencing. Nicole is also a yogi! She has so much internal strength that guides her and balances her in her new role as mom. When Nicole was a few months pregnant she found out the phoenix had cystic fibrosis. According to the CF foundation, “cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide). A defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections; and obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.” Due to the inability to absorb important nutrients from food, Phoenix has to take an enzyme before each meal. He also had to have surgery when he was just a few days old. That being said, Phoenix is such a gift to us all! As Nicole says, “He is the happiest baby on the block!”
This year Nicole is participating in the Great Strides Cystic Fibrosis walk to raise money for further research and to hopefully some day find a cure for CF. If you would like to donate money or participate in the CF walk, please go to her page by clicking here! To learn more about CF and the CF Foundation, visit www.cff.org. If you encounter a problem with a link, please visit Nicole’s Great Strides Home Page at http://www.cff.org/Great_Strides/PontzerNicole!

Like I have said before…I receive most of my clients by word of mouth. Which, I am learning, is how this business works. And really it makes sense! I feel so fortunate that ALL of my clients are so wonderful!!! That being said, a few weeks ago I received a great referral from a past client! Jaclyn Cannon, an entrepreneurial mother, emailed me and wanted to get some photos of her 2 week old! First off, I complimented her on being so with it! I could barely remember to feed myself when Reed was 2 weeks old. Jaclyn is the co-founder of The Jacabee Code, a children’s online educational game that teaches about history. I had such a fun time getting to know her two kids!

Yep that’s right! I now have a studio set up in my basement. So of course Reed had to be my first model! He is modeling the blue G-diaper! In school we use to have so much fun playing in the studio…and back then we were using film and medium format cameras. One day I will have a hasselblad camera again! There is something so nostalgic about how they feel and shoot. Shooting with a hasselblad gives you confidence and fluidity. It is attractive and symbolizes an error of simplistic photography. But, even hasselblad has gone digital now. So enough with my pipe dream…

I had been anticipating the wedding of Liz and Chris for over a year now. It all started from an email I had received from their friend Lindsay who had agreed to plan there wedding for them. It turns out that Lindsey was also the reason they were together. She was in architecture school with Chris at Georgia Tech and had gone to Paideia High School in Atlanta with Liz. Lindsay said she knew that they were meant for each other.
I knew from the beginning that this was going to be a real wedding celebration! They started their planning knowing that they wanted it to take place on New Years Eve. How fun is that! King Plow Art’s Center created a perfect venue for this artistically modern couple. Thanks again for allowing me to document your beautiful day!

I feel a bit guilty posting a photo of my son that I took at a friends house….amidst me photographing their son, but I couldn’t help it! I just plopped Reed down on their couch and his face was priceless. He is starting to act like my dog in front of the camera. Just simply content. One day I am sure he will rebel and not want to be anywhere close to my lens, but for now I am loving it! My husband said he looks so old in the photo…and I agree. He has the look of a 3-year-old yogi. I should enter this one in a contest or something. I am, like most mom’s super bias though.

Saturday was a special day! We had brunch with our friends Kate and Eric and met John Ogden. What a cutie! Gene and I brought Reed who looked so big next to John!!! Reed is now six weeks old and weighs 8 pounds and John is 3 weeks and 7 pounds; what a difference a pound makes! John was loving the swaddle and being close to mom and. We would put him down and immediately he would let out the cutest cry. He sounds just like the count….one ha ha ha…..two ha ha ha…..Thanks guys for a wonderful morning!!!

We did get one smile!

We are at the end of a stretch of snow days! I know that for some of you it was extremely burdensome and exhausting and possibly even scary. But for me it was a taste of home. Crunching in the snow and layering up clothes reminded me of my life in Wyoming. Like I told my husband, “Life is just more fun with snow!!” Besides the urge to find a trashcan lid and a hill or hit someone with a snowball the fun behind the snow is that it forces us to change! It pulls us out of our work a day world, that we so easily get caught up in. So hears one to snow!!! Gotta love it!
